FlightGauge is a second screen cockpit instrument panel for nearly all of your Flight Simulator aircraft. FlightGauge is designed for Android 4.0+ tablets between 7 and 10 inches and works with Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) and Prepar3D.
FlightGauge uses a free server component called FlightConnect which runs on the same computer as the Flight Simulator. FlightConnect must be installed and running before FlightGauge will function. FlightGauge has been removed from new sales due to GDPR and other issues. I am investigating what it would take to open source the code and make it fully available for free. Existing owners of the application can still download it from the Play Store by finding it in your purchased applications.

General Features

Hi. I own FlightMap and I am very happy with it. I left a comment with questions on the page of FlightMap and I feel very well understood.
I will buy also the FlightGauge, no doubt.
But when I look at the video, I am wondering about the setup. The FlightGauage make sense, when I do not(!) have the gauges on the FSX monitor (that means, flying in 2D mode with panel off), or flying with the 3D panel at 100% zoom and with the B737 and others, ehere not all gauges are visible.

Thank you for the comments and I’m glad you are enjoying the software. I think a lot of people will use FlightGauge as you describe. One of the primary goals is to make it completely recreate the gauges so the user can turn off the cockpit or VC completely. When I fly I keep the virtual cockpit on because I like to feel like I’m looking out a window. With TrackIR it really helps me feel immersed. I guess it’s time to build a new simpit 🙂

From time to time there are updates to FlightConnect to support new features in the software and also to fix issues or generally improve it. This new version of FlightConnect will also support the new features of the upcoming version of FlightMap that will be released soon. I try to limit these updates but they are necessary.

I tried the trial version, I think it’s amazing but can you zoom in to a particular instrument or rearrange the screen and enlarge just 1 or 2 gauges. Thanks. Great product.

This is a great product! I use both FlightGuage and FlightMap. They seem to run well in parallel, but it would be nice to have a seamless way of switching between them.

You can use the android task switcher to swap them in and out. That’s how I do it today. I suppose I could add an option to swap them within the apps if I detect them both installed. That would be pretty slick and seamless. I’ll look into it. Thanks

I have not submitted FlightGauge to the Amazon appstore yet. I’m looking into that now as it should work on it no problem. As soon as I verify and figure that all out it should be available. FlightMap will not be possible because it uses Google maps.

Hi, the screen shots look very nice indeed. Unfortunately the flight gauge app doesn’t work on my tablet (a perhaps less common zenithink 10″). Auto discovery of the flight connect server works, but after pressing the launch button the app crashes (black screen and google crashed message after a while) :(. Any ideas on this?

Thanks for looking into this. Perhaps it may be of some help, but FlightMap does work (although it seems a bit sluggish but I have not that fast a tablet) on my tablet.
If you need any more info to solve this just ask. I’m eager to get your program to work because it looks really good.
If I might make a small suggestion. I seem to be missing a trim gauge on the screen shots. Perhaps you could at some point create one (as a visual feedback at what position the elevator trim wheel is)? Then I can remove all gauges from my monitor view and get all that extra space for viewing the surrounding environment 🙂

Thanks for letting me know FlightMap works. It is really strange that it’s not loading on your tablet. I would think FlightMap would have more trouble than FlightGauge.
That is a great idea on the trims. I had not thought about that. I’ll look into it for the next version.

This app is the extreme killer. My friend is using it under windows 7 and it looks awesome. I have problems with windows 8 though, somehow there’s no conection between my samsung note 10.1 and my computer. Could you more or less give a hand there. It seems everybody got it, but me.

Its a great app and connection was seamless. My problem is that the app shows only the main gauges on my 7 inch tablet. The engine, nav gauges, fuel, electrical gauges etc are all missing from the screen. Only the 6 main gauges cover the whole screen Could you help me out.

I am sorry for the issue. On tablets with a resolution of 800×480 there is not enough screen space to show all of the gauges. I don’t run into these tablets often but there are some out there. It sounds like this is what is happening. The 7 inch layout you see in the screenshots is designed around the 1280×800 screen size which is the most typical.
I will look to see if there is a way I can allow more instruments to be used on this low resolution in the next revision.

I would definitely use this product IF you could configure the gauges and the app was tiltable. For example if you could do a full screen PFD (portrait) so you could mount your tablet inside a sim cockpit. Or the option to switch from mechanical gauges to digital ones.

Download both fsx apps today and very impressed, thanks. It occurs to me that with second hand android phones being available cheaply there may be a market for a similar app that shows just 1 gauge. Would make building custom cockpit displays very easy.

I have considered building a phone version that allows you to show one gauge at a time but that does not exist right now. The current app only works on 7 inch tablets and larger.

There was an update to FlightMap recently. FlightGauge hasn’t really needed any updates. It does what I want and works well. I do plan for a maintenance release soon to upgrade some libraries.

Doesn’t need updates? What about the suggestions made in the comments like displaying one gauge or picking your own set? I understand that the product is then at the end of it’s development cycle? It works well and nothing will be added to it?
Mind you, I’m not trying to necessarily criticise you! But merely getting clarification on what to expect 🙂

If more people bought it I would put more work into it. As simple as that. So far it has not made back my investment in 3 years. So it is a little hard to justify the time to do updates. That said, the app works very well today and does what is advertised. User requests are few and far between. I don’t remember the last time I had a user request or issue with FlightGauge. If an issue comes up I’ll fix it. I am fully supporting the application. If a request comes in I’ll figure out if the investment will get more users.

Some 10 inch tablets have a similar resolution to 7 inch tablets. In this case FlightGauge automatically switches to the 7 inch tablet view. In this view you slide in from the right or tap the bar on the right to expand the gauges.

I recently downloaded the paid version of FlightGauge for Android but still cannot make it run on FSX:SE. I installed FlightConnect and it seems to work, but when I launch FlightGauge I keep getting the same message: “Unable to connect to server”. Any ideas? Thank you.

This usually happens when something on the pc is blocking connections. Here are a few things to check.
1. If the server discover feature is not working in Flightmap then that means the PC is not communicating at all. Check to see if you have a firewall turned on for the PC and disable it temporarily. Usually that will get the discovery working. If that is the case then you need to add an exception for FlightConnect into the firewall.
2. If FlightMap still does not see FlightConnect after disabling firewall then check the connection type. It needs to be set to home or work for FlightConnect to work
